Josep Vila i Jover

Josep Vila Jover (Granollers, 1970) studied choral conducting with Enric Ribó, Conxita Garcia and Christian Grube. He is the artistic director of Societat Coral Amics de la Unió, an outstanding choral school in Catalonia with more than six hundred students and ten active choirs. He is also the conductor of two of the school choirs: The children’s choir VEUS – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió, made up of 60 young voices aged between 11 and 17, and the Cor de Cambra de Granollers, a mixed choir with 30 members. He has also conducted children voices parts in operas performed in the Gran Teatre del Liceu Opera House in Barcelona.

He has been a guest choirmaster and given workshops in many festivals, such as “Eurotreff 2017” in Wolfenbüttel, Germany, the “Setmana Cantant” in Tarragona, Catalonia, and in “Festival di Primavera Feniarco”, in Italia. His children’s choir Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió has been chosen as one of the 24 best choirs in the world for the World Simposium on Choral Music 2017 and it will participate in the Taipei International Choral Festival.

The choirs perform every year’s season at Teatre Auditori Granollers, Palau de la Música Catalana, l’Auditori Barcelona and Gran Teatre del Liceu. They have also performed under conductors like Manuel Valdivieso, Alvaro Alviach, Jordi Savall, Pablo Gonzalez, Ruben Jimeno and Robert King.

Conductor of VEUS – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió

He has been awarded several prizes in prestigious international competitions as a conductor of VEUS – Cor Infantil Amics de la Unió, which is considered to be one of the best children’s choir in Spain. The latest are:

2015 47 Certamen Coral de Tolosa (Euskadi, Spain). 1st prize
2013 Let the Peoples Sing! European Broadcasting Union contest. Luxemburg. Best youth choir performance. Silver Rose Bowl, the best choir of the year.
2013 59 Certamen Internacional de Habaneras de Torrevieja. Prize to the best Spanish choir and Prize from the audience
2010 42 Certamen Coral de Tolosa (Euskadi, Spain) . 2nd prize
